What We've Done
Past Programs
Eagle Watch & Nesting Observation
Presented by Tim from Wasatch Mountain Institute
Spotting scopes set up along the reservoir by an active eagle nest. Participants watched nesting bald eagles, learned about raptor behavior and ecology, and identified other bird species. Over 50 attendees brought their own binoculars.
Herbal Medicine Workshop
Presented by Skye Thompson, Program Director
Hands-on workshop identifying local medicinal plants and making traditional herbal remedies from scratch– including cough syrups, tinctures, and immune-supporting preparations. Participants took home their own creations.
Beaver Ecology Walk
Presented by Local Beaver Ecologists
Guided walk to active beaver habitat along the Jordanelle reservoir. Learned how beavers engineer entire ecosystems, identified signs of beaver activity, and discussed the role of keystone species in wetland health.
Bird Watching & Feeder Building
Presented by Bonsai Academy Team
Morning bird walk to identify local species by sight and sound, followed by a hands-on feeder-building activity. Each participant built and took home their own bird feeder. A family favorite.
Valentine's Day Nature Cards
Presented by Skye Thompson
Seasonal event where families gathered natural materials– pressed flowers, feathers, bark– to create handmade Valentine's Day cards. A creative, grounding activity celebrating the intersection of art and nature.
